Rung two: Engage

Engage is the second rung of Five Rungs and the one Lets Elevate is best known for. It is the work of reaching the companies that fit your ideal customer profile before they come looking - and it is done in a fixed order: build the list to the profile, send the email, then make the call. The order is the method.

The list

Everything on this rung depends on who is on the list. It is built to the profile agreed at discovery and enriched contact by contact - verified direct email, phone number, LinkedIn profile - so that the email, the call and the follow-up reach the same person. On our commercial solar campaign the profile ran to electricity consumption, roof space, sector, geography and role. A list that specific does half the qualification before anyone is contacted.

The email, first

The email goes before the call, always. It is short, it is about the reader's situation rather than about us, and it does not ask for a meeting. Its job is to make the call that follows a follow-up instead of a cold approach. In practice that means more decision-makers take the call, the conversation opens on the subject rather than on who we are, and the appointments that result are with people who chose to continue.

Across a sequence the intent builds. The first message is an introduction and an opening for a conversation; each one after it is more specific about the problem and the fit, until the later messages are asking plainly for a qualified conversation. On a long sales cycle that escalation is what makes the difference between being read and being deleted.

The call, second

A UK-based caller, briefed on your proposition and your buyer, phones the accounts the email has reached. No script. The conversation is about the prospect's situation - in solar: energy challenges, site suitability, existing infrastructure, decision timelines - and it is qualified against the criteria agreed with you before anything is booked.

What it produced

Every campaign we publish was run this way. Commercial solar: 12x return on investment, multiple six-figure projects into pipeline, qualified appointments sustained beyond eighteen months. Technology: 127-plus qualified appointments and £3.8m-plus of pipeline in twelve months, with 72% of appointments going to proposal. Industrial automation: nine months, opportunities opened at enterprise scale, built for commercial value rather than volume.
